Tuesday Tip: [Modifying Your Leadership Style for Your Multi-Gen Team]
Modifying your Leadership Style for your Multi-Gen Team
Solving problems and making tough decisions can be even more difficult when leading a multi-generational team.
What the 4 Generations think about decision making:
1) Mature – (65+) – Typically expect a rigid hierarchy, which makes problem solving up to “the boss”
2) Baby Boomers – (46 – 64) – They see org charts as more horizontal, and defer to leaders as long they have some say in the decision being made.
3) Gen X – (31 – 45) – Being more independent, they see decisions as being more team oriented.
4) Gen Y – (under 30) – Seeing everyone’s role being much more collaborative, they look for decisions to be made by the team members, with little guidance from a team leader.
To get every generation on the same page and equally engaged, deploy an Action Register to make activities more visible and personal. Learn more about Action Registers for multi-generational teams in tomorrow’s webinar…
